• Mandatory Payment of Excise Duty electronically through Internet banking applied to all assessee. In exceptional cases, Jurisdictional Assistant commissioner/ Deputy Commissioner may allow other mode.

• Hitherto default in payment of duty beyond 30 days, the assessee was liable to pay duty on each consignment at the time of removal of goods without availing CENVAT credit. Henceforth if the assessee fails to pay declared duty within 1 month form the due date, a penalty of 1% per month or part thereof shall be charged on such duty till the payment is made. Further, the assessee would continue to enjoy CENVAT credit benefit in normal course.
