The amended provisions are as follow -

Relaxation has been provided to the importers to submit advance information in an online system for import of items and obtain an automatic registration number under SIMS by paying the required registration fee as per SIMS regulation. The importer can apply for registration not earlier than 60th day before the expected date of arrival of import consignment. However, they can now apply for such registration even 1 day before arrival of consignments.

Earlier, the importers were required to submit advance information in an online system for import of items and obtain an automatic Registration number under SIMS not earlier than 60th day and not later than l5th day before the expected date of arrival of import consignment.

The automatic Registration Number shall remain valid for a period of 75 days.
